The CPF Foundation proudly participated in the 19th Edition of the Henry Wanyoike Hope Run, held at Kianjeru Primary School in Kiambu County. The annual event brought together a diverse gathering of more than 2,000 participants, including children, youth, adults, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, community leaders, and government officials, all united by a shared commitment to promoting inclusion, equality, and hope.
For nearly two decades, the Henry Wanyoike Hope Run has served as a powerful platform for advocating for the rights and welfare of vulnerable populations, particularly persons with disabilities and children. The event not only raises awareness but also inspires communities to embrace diversity, foster inclusion, and create opportunities for all individuals to thrive regardless of their circumstances.
This year's edition was graced by senior government officials, local leaders, development partners, and members of the public who turned out in large numbers to support the noble cause. Participants took part in various races and activities designed to encourage physical fitness, social integration, and community engagement.
As a Foundation committed to improving the well-being of communities, CPF Foundation leveraged the event to amplify the importance of healthy ageing and the role that sports and physical activity play in enhancing quality of life. Regular exercise contributes significantly to physical health, mental wellness, and social contentment, making it an essential pillar for healthy and active ageing.
The event was further inspired by the presence and remarkable story of legendary Paralympic Henry Wanyoike, whose journey continues to motivate millions around the world. Despite losing his sight, Henry has remained steadfast in pursuing his dreams and advocating for inclusion and empowerment.
Speaking during the event, he shared his iconic words:
"I have lost my sight, but not my vision."
This powerful message resonated deeply with participants, serving as a reminder that limitations need not define one's future. Through resilience, determination, and a positive mindset, individuals can overcome challenges and create meaningful impact in their communities.
CPF Foundation remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote inclusion, dignity, healthy living, and equal opportunities for all. Our participation in the Henry Wanyoike Hope Run reflects our belief that together, we can build a more inclusive society where every individual is empowered to realize their full potential.
As we continue to champion social impact initiatives, we celebrate the spirit of hope, resilience, and unity demonstrated at this year's event and look forward to supporting more programs that transform lives and strengthen communities across Kenya.
