CPF Foundation Hosts Monthly Discussion Forum on Ageing (MDFA

The CPF Foundation hosted the Monthly Discussion Forum on Ageing (MDFA) on 24th April, 2026 , bringing together government representatives, civil society actors, development partners, community organisations, and older persons’ groups to discuss pathways for strengthening the economic empowerment and resilience of older persons in Kenya.

The forum focused on shifting from welfare-based responses to empowerment-oriented approaches that enable older persons to participate meaningfully in economic and community life. Key discussions highlighted the importance of financial inclusion, sustainable livelihoods, and stronger social protection systems to support dignity and security in later life.

Participants emphasized the need for inclusive policies, intergenerational collaboration, and coordinated multi-stakeholder action to address the evolving needs of ageing populations.

The forum concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen community-based empowerment initiatives, enhance advocacy on ageing and social protection, and continue MDFA as a platform for dialogue, learning, and policy influence on dignified ageing in Kenya.
